Our Story

Cedar Fox Mercantile and Bakery was born from a desire to create honest food using flavors from our travels around the U.S. and Europe, and share the results with friends and neighbors (who hopefully become friends).

We aim to satisfy appetites for both nourishment and community within Greene County, VA and the surrounding area.

We want to provide a variety of quality baked goods that make people feel good - food to share around the table with friends and family. Food to slow down and savor - something to enjoy while you open your heart and home, and share life with one another.

We want to encourage you to celebrate life around the table...where your story unfolds.

Welcome! We're glad you stopped by our little corner of the Internet.

In the Kitchen and Around Town

The kitchen is my happy place, the heart of our home - where I pour out my love into my food, then into the souls who come through our door. Hospitality is vital to building community! The days of unlocked doors and neighbors welcome to "drop in" anytime are largely in the rearview, but there still remains pockets of that tradition all over the world. Still beating within us is that craving to be known and have a place we belong.

I want Cedar Fox to become known as not only a bakery, but hospitality on the move. You'll hear me say things like, "We can't wait to see you at the market," and "Let me know how I can serve you," and I absolutely mean it - After moving from state to state and country to country...I want to grow roots and give more than I take from this place we now call home.     ~Cathy
